Summer slowdown

Hopefully no one read this and thought I was talking about the fishing! Actually, the fishing has been holding up pretty good with all the sun, heat and humidity last week. Fran and Mary VanHoorweghe would certainly attest to that. Despite losing about a day and a half of their trip to really crummy weather, Fran and Mary still managed to catch 269 fish for the week of which approximately 90% were walleyes. Fran even asked me once while in camp if it was "legal" to fish within sight of camp the whole week and catch that many fish. I assured him it was.

So what does the summer slowdown relate to? Well rarely do camp owners rejoice over only being half full--but in this case that is exactly what we are doing this week. After being very close to full the first 7 weeks of the season, we finally have a slow week in camp and hope to use this time to catch our breath and even get the girls out fishing some. We realize this will be a very short reprieve from the busy schedule as most of the remaining summer we will be full again and this fall we have more bear hunters booked than ever before. This week will give us a brief, (but much needed) chance to "recharge" the batteries. We are looking forward to an exciting and fun second half of the season. It's hard to believe week 8 of the season is already here....hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are!
